Five scents of candles that Teal'c likes to use for Kel’no’reem

1. Sex on the Beach: Make summer last a little longer with this wonderfully fragrant blend of melons and peaches and base notes of ripe watermelon.

Teal’c bought this scent just for the name, naturally, and enjoyed walking around the base telling random people (and amused teammates) that his “Sex on the Beach” candles had arrived. But he really loves them.

2. Café Mocha: A rich combination of creamy cappuccino, heavy cream and sugar, with a base note of rich dark chocolate

Teal’c bought this scent specifically to be used when Daniel Jackson shares kel’no’reem with him. Daniel takes a deep breath and the weight of the world rolls off his shoulders and a contented smile comes to his face. All that before meditation even begins.

3. Leather Store: Just like walking into that famous leather store in the mall, or walking into your favorite Harley shop with all the leather accessories. Sexy and bold!

A holiday gift from Major Carter. Teal’c is very fond indeed of these candles.

4. Patchouli: A very earthy scent popular in the 60’s and 70’s with the hippie crowd, Patchouli is a memorable aroma to everyone. Soothing and relaxing giving you a happy uplifted feeling

Teal’c has nothing but good memories of 1969, and of Michael and Jenny. Only the aroma of marijuana could capture those memories more fully.

5. The Campfire candle: Capture the scent of a camping trip without the bugs, bears or effort. This candle will remind you of a crackling fire on a cold autumn day

At the most stressful of times, Teal’c can light these candles, close his eyes and sink into kel’no’reem, soothed and supported by the companionship and courage of his teammates. They are present even when absent, and they warm him.

What I was going to say (but didn't have the brainpower last night) was that its a side of Teal'c we don't often see and should have.

Oh, yeah, I was very pleased when I was Googling and things started jumping out at me. The first one I found that struck me was 'butter cookie', but that got supplanted. :-)

Why do I get the feeling 'butter cookie' = Cam? It's totally random and I don't know that it has any basis whatsoever, but that's where my mind goes. (I also love all of these possibilities, particularly 1 & 4)

great descriptions of the candles! however, i'm allergic to scented candles 7 will just settle for enjoying the descriptions & not the candles themselves.

I had no idea people could be allergic to candles until I was Googling this morning while writing this. Now, some of these sites I visited claimed that their scented candles were safe for everyone. Google "scented candles" and start clicking if you're curious!

Oh, and I lifted the descriptions from the 'net. It's so cool how well they worked here!

I was so pleased with what I was able to find and how beautifully they fit SG-1.

I wouldn't want the Cafe Mocha myself, but all the others sound wonderful.

Aw, this was wonderful. Scents can be so emotional - it's said that smell is more closely linked to memory than any other sense... so it's great what you did with 4 and 5. I like 2 because it's awesome that Teal'c would be thoughtful like this, and 3 is awesome because I can really see Teal'c and the leather thing working. And of course 1 is just hillarious.

I can testify to the scent/memory link, although I only have one example where it worked spectacularly: a whiff of something one day and I was instantly transported back to the janitor's closet in my elementary school, where we went to rinse out our paintboxes in the sink. I was standing there at the sink. I hadn't thought of that room... well, I'd never thought of it!

This was a really fun prompt to write - Googling for scents and constructing Teal'c-ish scenarios. :-)
