Five people Cam wants to recruit to SG-1
Like how he wishes he could keep John safe, and how John’s really hot when he goes into angry-defensive mode.
It would also include, right at the end, the one reason he wants to do it but never will, which is that he can want John safe and close as much as he likes, but he’ll never want John miserable.
2. Carolyn Lam: Partly because he now has far more experience of performing field medicine than he ever wanted. Partly because there are way too many planets where even he can tell that things would be much better if they had access to some decent medical care. Partly because nothing seems to faze her.
Partly because the one time he saw her cool-calm-and-collected crack was after the prior cured them on P8X-412. The two of them were sitting on the steps of the pyramid, looking out at the village and he looked over at her. She was smiling slightly, and when he said, “What?” she looked at him, smiled more, and said, “I’m on another planet,” with exactly the same amount of amazement that he always felt when he thought about it.
It’s the only time he’s ever heard someone he’s off-world with sound like that.
3. Dr Cox: Jackson had an assistant for a grand total of five weeks before she got fed up with ”being treated like a freshman undergrad student who’s about the flunk out of Archaeology 101,” and went back to academia. Cam tried to explain that Jackson was having a bad month (it was right in the middle of when things with the Ori started going really badly) but she left anyway.
Cam still wishes he could entice her back and onto SG1, even with the screaming arguments in three different languages, and the one time she threw a book at Jackson and hit Landry by mistake. Even with knowing that her aim is so bad it’d take months to train her up to carry a weapon. He doesn’t care about any of that, because she was, whatever Jackson said, good at her job, at least according to everyone else Cam spoke to, and having her around meant everything that needed doing for actual missions got done twice as fast.
Because as useful as Jackson’s more esoteric stuff can turn out to be, sometimes Cam would kill for someone to sweat the small stuff while Jackson's eying the distant horizon of knowledge.
4. Major Lorne: He’ll never do it, because John's kind of attached to the guy, and Lorne's way too protective of John for Cam to survive asking. He sometimes thinks about it anyway, especially when Sam’s in Atlantis and he’s lost the one person who understands the concept of chain of command. Not that he wants to order his team about (though he does sometimes fantasise about just *once* not having to debate for ten minutes before something happens), but he’ll die happily if he never has to have another conversation about how they do actually have to answer to Landry at some point. He’s never realised before how much Sam must have kept the other three in line.
Plus, Lorne’s a good officer and a good person, and possibly even a friend, and he used to belong to the SGC. It’s not fair that John gets to steal almost all the good people.
5. Teyla Emmagan: Even more so after he actually meets her, because she’s so cool she makes Carolyn look hysterical and prone to panic. He’s not entirely sure she likes him – well, no more than the fact of John liking him makes him acceptable to her – and he’d rather try to recruit Lorne than try to recruit Teyla, but if he could clone her and take one back to Earth, he’d seriously consider it.
Not least because, unlike certain archaeologists, Cam's pretty sure her diplomatic interventions don’t end in bloodshed and gunfire ninety per cent of the time.

And it really does seem like SG-1 could use a doctor on the team...

Teyla, omg yes. And so very true that all her diplomatic efforts are actually... conducted with diplomacy. Seriously, Daniel started out that way, but too many years of working with Jack rubbed off on him. ;-)

2. Bra’tac. No explanations necessary.
3. John Sheppard. Sure, it’d probably be a mistake to put a man with his own command on the team, since he’d technically be outranked by both Sam and himself, but he’s handy in fight and easy on the eyes.
4. Radek Zelenka. Atlantis stole his
science geekbest friend! For a whole year! It’s only fair he steal Sheppard’s in retaliation. Except there’s no way McKay would ever actually leave, so he’ll take Sheppard’sgeek’s geekfriend’s friend instead.5. Jack O’Neill. Because then he could go back to his fanboy geek out over serving with the heroes of SG-1 instead of pretending like he felt totally qualified to lead three legends with eight years experience on him.
On the other hand, SG-1 is pretty perfect as it is, so Mitchell doesn’t actually make any recruitment attempts. Except that last one; he'd gladly hand the reins back over to the General at any time.

2. Nyan. What was it about every archaeologist but Jackson being idealistic and enthusiastic? Cam couldn’t help it, he liked that. Jackson’s snark and caution were invaluable, but Nyan was just cool. There were all kinds of cool, and Jackson offered another kind, but Cam wished he could have Nyan’s too.
3. Cassie. The kid had skills, mean medic-in-training skills that would be useful whenever he or Jackson inevitably ended up with injuries. That, and the way she could turn a witty phrase, had Cam feeling all uncle-like. The notion that she might also have some dirt on his afore-mentioned teasing teammembers had nothing to do with the fact that Cam was just waiting for the day she could join the Air Force and be eligible to recruit. Nothing whatsoever.
4. Paul Davis. Poor guy hadn’t been promoted in his whole time dealing with the SGC, and it sure would be nice to have someone who could handle negotiations with a cool head. He was also a bigger SG-1 fanboy than Cam had been, which tickled Cam’s sense of justice.
5. His grandmother. Because there were times when he didn’t remember her good advice, and he was afraid he’d forget something really big one day and destroy the universe. And he couldn’t live with himself if that ever happened.

Ah, Cam should've known Daniel back-in-the-day. He had all those Jonas/Nyan-esque qualities goin' on that Cam admires so much.
You know, a senior citizen on the First Contact team would probably be an excellent idea! Plenty of cultures would respond positively to her inclusion. *nods*

2) If he got Dr. Lam off-world, out from under her daddy’s watchful eye, he might get the chance to really get to know her.
3) Jonas Quinn earned his spot on the team. He should come back.
4) He thinks a Tok’ra would be an interesting addition to the team and from what Sam’s told him, he’s very sorry that Lantash/Martouf are no longer around. Besides, getting two for the price of one would be awesome.
5) The team needs another woman to make it even, so getting Teyla on his team would be a huge score. She could probably even keep Vala in line.

Dr. Lam. She’s nice to have around, just in general, and she’d be specifically handy all those times one of the team (often Cam himself) is shot/blasted/blown up/beaten to a pulp.
John Wayne. All those times that Cam doubts his own leadership skills, he’d love for The Duke to just take charge and rally the troops and take the hill and rescue the fort.
Jack O’Neill. How awesome would it be to have the whole band back together again?
Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Kicks. Ass. Cam bets she’d be a great Prior slayer, and most days he wants them all dead, dead, dead.
