I think that Teal'c is a case of still waters run deep. To become a First Prime for a millenia old System Lord and stay there means incredible intelligence. He is also one tough s.o.b. Too bad the show didn't go into it more.

If you like a strong smart Teal'c, may I suggest my on-going fic "You Don't Know Jack!" It was a plot bunny suggesting that in Fragile Balance there was no clone. Jack became his fifteen year old self. All hell breaks loose. Teal'c takes center stage to resolve the situation with a surprising character study of Teal'c. I'm nearing completion.
