Okay, I'll be the virginal sacrifice to your new thread... or something like that...
But this is more of a "Did I?" than a "How To". I posted a couple of responses to the current 5 things thread, "5 Things Sam knew about Cam before he came to the SGC". It looks like I did it right, but if you could double-check, I would appreciate it.
I understand that if you are planning to respond to the same prompt, you may not want to read it until you have completed your list, so if you don't want to do it now, I understand. If you check it before it all becomes "live" though, I'd appreciate it! Thanks.
I can't see the responses for the prompts 5.01 and 5.02. Is that because no one submitted a list for those? Or am I looking in the wrong place? The links for the responses for 5.03 through 5.10 [or how many there are] are all on the same page. I would assume it was because nobody turned in a list for .01 and .02, except there was another with no response that WAS shown on the page.
*growls* Stupid LJ, making me retype everything. Anyhow, I didn't see this in the welcome post/rules-unless I'm going blind-are you planning to do a blast from the past/catch up theme where say either during the summertime or christmas/new year period we can participate in the prompts we missed? Coz that would be cool.
Not so much a 'how to' as a posting clarification question, but: on the new 'second chance on older prompts' post -- should responses to separate prompts be posted in separate comments?
Specifically -- I have partial replies for three separate prompts. Three comments?
I have strange 5 Things response sort of writing itself. The jury is still out if I’m going to have the nerve to put this one up or not. LOL. But just in case, it has about 300 words to the 1-5 response and an aprox 300-word epilogue.
Do you have a word limit rule for 5 Things responses? Is this one too long?
What is the LJ word limit for a single comment (will I have to divide this into two comments)?
Is it ok to do a 5 Things response and have an epilogue/afterward as part of the response?
Thanks for any help. I looked around here, and couldn’t find the answers, so I figured I should ask.
Hi. I've just taken the plunge and posted my first ever Five Things thing ... Five things which disappointed Jack O'Neill. I hope I've done it correctly. Any chance of letting me know if I have? Thanks
i just posted to the five things sg1 did as kids but it wouldn't let me rply to my own commetn as it ws too large to post in one go. So i did it separately but not sure if that will work as they might not appear together in the comment list.
Some time ago I fell in love with five-things-fics, and now I hope to post something to one of the prompts. But what I'm asking here is this: a while back I've written a couple of five-things-fics (to my own prompts - it was before I discovered this community), posted them in my LJ and AlphaGate archive. Is there a way to link them (http://ernutet.livejournal.com/tag/fivethings) to this comm, or is that only for the responses to the comm's prompts? I'm still getting around in the technical waters of LJ. Thanks!
Hiya, Here to check prompts for set 43 and I can't find them. I get an error message when I click on the link. Am I too early? Am I doing something wrong? Is it just me? (It probably is. Starting_gate will confirm that) :-)
Sorry to be a pain, but I got interrupted between posting parts 1 and 2 to the Five Times Daniel Thought He Was Going to Die prompt. Would you mind just checking that they posted OK? Thanks (and sorry for the hassle)
Hello! I'll be posting for the first time this round and I was just wondering if we are allowed to post to other comms as well as our own journals once all the responses have been unlocked? Thanks!
So I just posted a response that ends up in three comments (two comments for one "thing" that turned into a longer story). Should I put the two comment story as an entry in my lj instead with a link? And er...how do I link it if it's going to be locked...er...
I have a question about sequals. Is it ok, once the responses have been unscreened, to take the little fic and expand it to make it 5 longer fics? Also, is i ok to do sequals to them?
May be stupid questions but I wanted to check before I did just in case!
I just posted something for challenge # 145.04 - Five Children That Were Born on Novus. I posted it with a link back to my LJ where I locked it for my eyes only, because I wasn't certain how to do a custom lock to coincide with the unveiling of the prompts. I looked under the help FAQ # 24 about security levels, but it's a bit of gobble-gook for me. Any help on how to properly lock future fics would be appreciated. Thanks,
