Five ways to misuse the ‘gate
What on earth possessed SG-1 and SG-3 to play hide and seek using the Stargate? If there was an emergency, no-one would know where they were. And how were they supposed to find one another?
Of all the stupid things alien viruses and technologies had made them do, this was by far the most stupid!
2. “Sir, this planet seems to have the correct climate and resources to become a potential beta site for...”
“Sir, it’s a warm planet and we’d all like a holiday!” Jack cut Sam off while she was trying to deliver her prepared excuse as to why they had to go to a lovely planet with beaches and trees and grass and sun.
Hammond looked at them all, slight disbelief on his face before he turned to look at Colonel O’Neill.
“A potential beta site? You should check it out. Will a week be sufficient?” He said, a slight smile playing on his lips.
“Perfect, sir!”
3. As Siler wandered down the halls, he noticed the guy who usually took the rubbish up to the top of the mountain trying to stuff a bag of rubbish into a supply closet.
“Jim, what are you doing?” Siler asked, stopping next to the man.
“Sergeant Siler! I’m sorry, I’ve had a long day and I got lazy. I’ll take it up now.”
Siler thought for a moment before telling Jim to come with him.
“Walter, can we run a test on the ‘gate. Need to take care of something.”
As Walter started the dialing process, Siler led Jim down to the ‘gate room and, just as the wormhole established, Siler threw the rubbish bag up so it was immersed in the kawoosh.
“There you go, job done!”
Jim just smiled.
4. “So I was the guy who was chosen to go through the ‘gate first. Not only that, but I lead the foremost team who is out there in the galaxy...” Jack was leaning across a female officer’s desk, his signature smile on his face.
“Sir?” Sam’s voice came down the hall and Jack stood up immediately.
He headed for the out of the room just as Sam came up to the door. He smiled and shot a glance back at the officer, who just shook her head.
Sam smirked. “Using the ‘gate as a chat up line again, sir?”
5. Daniel heard the ‘gate being activated while he was in his office, finishing up a translation. Looking at his watch, he noticed it was 2am. There shouldn’t be anyone going offworld just now, no-one was due to come home at that time of night, and the alarm wasn’t going off so it wasn’t an unscheduled offworld activation.
He made his way to the control room and, seeing no-one there, made his way down to the ‘gate room. There, sitting against the wall opposite the ‘gate, was Vala.
“What are you doing?” Daniel asked.
“Couldn’t sleep. Thought a nightlight would help but I don’t have one.” Vala replied, staring at the shimmering wormhole.
“And you thought you’d use the Stargate?” Daniel smiled. She was nothing if not inventive.
She finally looked at him and smiled. He sat next to her and wrapped one arm around her shoulders and she lowered her head onto his shoulder, cuddling in closer.
