(First time posting - Hope this is ok!)

1. When his son was born. This big, strong, military man actually cooed over the tiny bundle in his wife's arms that was his son, Charlie. He was completely wrapped around Charlie's little finger and was, quite possibly, the least tough he had ever been. And he didn't care.

2. When his son died. At first he was angry, throwing things and slamming doors, but when that feeling subsided he was left with a feeling of emptiness. For the sake of his wife and family he never showed how hurt he really was. As time went on however, he began to break down and even cried.

3. When Sam was stuck on the Prometheus on her own. This made him worry and he couldn't concentrate on anything. Instead of being strong and looking for her like a Commanding officer should, he was worried and his mind couldn't focus. The one person who was best suited to finding Sam, and a way to bring her home, was Sam herself. And that worried him more than anything.

4. When Sam made it home ok. He was too relieved to be any kind of tough. When she was in the infirmary he sat by her bed until she woke up. Though he would never admit that to her. Not right now. He told her about the party and the cake and, before leaving, he had to glance back to make sure she was all right, afraid to lose her again.

5. The first morning he woke up next to Sam. He had retired and they had spent the night together, finally. And in the morning he wasn't gruff and tough like he usually was. He made Sam breakfast and brought it to her in bed, then sat in silence, a goofy smile on his lips, as he watched her eat it.

when charlie died, he thought he needed to be stoic. at least in public. at home he cries, sometimes with is wife, often alone.

after cassie came to earth jack realized that he missed spending time with a child, so he volunteered at her school. the kids liked cassie's "uncle" and even after she moved to higher grades, jack still dropped in from time to time.

after getting cassie a dog jack wanted one too, but with his schedule he knew that was impossible. so he volunteered at the same shelter where he got her dog from. jack brings a bag of dog food, washes a dog or 2 & plays with the puppies. he considers it therapy.

when jack & sam got married he admits to getting teary-eyed, it was a beautiful ceremony & jack thought he couldn't be happier, until....

their daughter was born about one year later. the first time jack held her, he just melted.

Oh yes, Jack and kids, and Jack and dogs. I can totally see him doing something like that (and calling it therapy *g*).
