You called me a "stupid son of a bitch." That hurt. A lot.
Oh, I know I'm stupid, sometimes, and a son of a bitch too. What hurt me wasn't the words. It was the anger, the RAGE, behind them.
I'll take that pain, though. It's a lot less than the pain I'd feel if you died.
If the price of keeping you safe is your hatred of me, I'll pay that price and never count the cost.

Dear Mini-Me,
Since you ARE me, you know how much it's making me crazy that you're out there, getting a second chance to make a first impression.
I wish you didn't exist. But since you do, I guess I owe you something. Something, but NOT what I have. Keep your paws off what's mine. I don't share.
Can't imagine how you'll stand it in that school, sitting where Charlie should be. So when it gets to be too much, let me know, and I'll help you work out something else. Hopefully, something that'll take you a long way from this place, from my life, from Daniel. Something like herding yaks in Tibet.
And then, once you're gone, I never want to see or hear from you again.

Sorry about that.
I've left you everything. The house, the cabin, the truck. Bank accounts, stocks and bonds. You're the named beneficiary of my military life insurance.
All the information you'll need is on the attached pages. My lawyer has a copy of my will.
For a long time, I wondered what you might have wanted. I knew what I wanted, knew it was impossible. This is the only way I know to make you understand. It's not enough, it can never be enough. It'll have to be.
