Five things that happened to Jonas Quinn after the Ori conquered his world

1. He died, instantly. The Ori decided to make a clear statement about what resistance would get you, and fired on the capitol city from orbit. Jonas never saw the ships that had darkened his skies.

2. He died, screaming. As the ships descended Jonas had run for the gate, hoping he could get through to Stargate Command in time to get help. Guards caught him mid address, and the recognized enough of it to know who he was calling. He was taken to a prior for interrogation. In the end he couldn't even remember his own name, but he never said a word that might betray the SGC. It was his final act of contrition to Dr. Jackson.

3.He died, as he lived. It was a nice enough eulogy the other resistance members thought. But Jonas Quinn was dead now, at peace. They still had to keep fighting.

4.He died, just days before they arrived. The stress of becoming the youngest Science Minister of Kelowna, a year with the SGC and another year trying to keep his people together was just too much. Jonas Quinn, dead of a heart attack at 33.

5. He died, in bed. After a lifetime of embracing Origin, as the Ori's first true convert, Jonas fully expected to achieve ascension. Instead, there was only the darkness of one whose soul has been burned away by beings older than life on his planet

These are great. The last one is chilling.

All aspects of Jonas covered here! Brave, and ready to cave.

And stubborn, as in #2, which is my favorite.

#5 is really chilling, but they're all really effective. Poor Jonas.

1. He cut his hair, because Priors didn’t go for style.

2. He watched the one person he thought might be with him forever look at him with cold, empty eyes, and he couldn’t say anything as she walked away because Priors didn’t feel.

3. He finally embraced his unique physiology as the other Priors and the Ori alike couldn’t tell that he was playing them for all they were worth.

4. There was no way to know for sure if it was luck or something else, but it all came down to a final charge. The Priors were confused, some left, and the underground resistance that Jonas had been sheltering rose and brought the Ori troops to the ground—with no distinction between nationalities. Jonas stood against the final Prior, a tight grin on his face through the last battle, until they both struck at the same time. Even from where he lay collapsed, he didn’t close his eyes until the Prior did. And he died.

5. “But I don’t want enlightenment,” said Jonas in front of the glowing Order. “There are a lot of things I haven’t done yet—you have to send me back.”

If ascended beings had eyes, they would have glanced surreptitiously to each other. “Then I suppose you will do some of them again,” one finally answered.

Jonas frowned, but he only had a moment of confusion before it was all gone.

He woke up, cold and naked on a forest floor, looking up into the eyes of a teenage girl. “Hello? I don’t know you, do I?”

“You are Arthur reborn,” she whispered, awed. Jonas glanced at her long woolen dress and the cocked floppy beret, something whispering to him that that name and those clothes went together. “I knew you would return to us. Come, my father will introduce you to your new knights.”

Jonas wasn’t going to say no to a woman who handed him a large cloak. “So my name’s Arthur?”

“You don’t remember?” she asked. “Then how did you know to come when I pulled the sword?”

He shrugged, wrapping the warm cloak around himself.

“Don’t worry, we’ll teach you everything,” the girl assured. “My name’s Valencia from Camelot.”

And well, that sounded about as good a start as any.

#5 is very interesting

But... not the last, after all! #5 is Very Cool. :-)

(Sidenote: that girl was an awesome character, and I loved her costume. :-)

He thought about Sam when he wondered how much of the Prior’s powers were ‘God’-given and how much was just advanced technology. There had to be a means to defeat them.

He thought about Teal’c’s strength and pride in the face of Goa’uld oppression, which was all his people had ever known. Jonas’s people knew all about pride, but now was the time for strength.

He thought about Jack when his knees ached from Prostration, and wondered if he could ever be a leader. His people needed a leader so badly.

He formed an Underground movement. Things went badly sometimes. People died. He doubted himself. The movement was the right thing, but maybe he wasn’t the right person. The constant pressure, the constant danger, the constant doubt wore on him.

He thought about Daniel when he thought death might be the easier option, and he didn’t give up.

Wow.

really good five things here, liked how he used what he learned from each of them to carry on.

I really love these - all the strength that come from the people he's left behind.

People that he wishes were there with him, but they're guiding his footsteps and encouraging him without even knowing it. *nods*
