Five ways things would be different if Daniel's parents had lived

daniel would've spent less time in the field & more time doing research.

he would've have published several notable papers.

daniel would’ve be come an assistant professor at stanford university.

along with his parents, he would’ve written a book about the egyptian ptolemaic dynasty.

#1 is so true! Nick just absolutely didn't want any responsibility.

And all the others indicate a type of partnership, with his parents on digs and Daniel focusing on the academic side of things. Cool!
