Four things that Cam would do for his team, and one that he wouldn't
2. Why Vala wanted him of all people to go shopping, he had no idea. He hated clothes shopping almost as much as he hated, well, any shopping, but she had begged and pleaded with him until he caved. Despite having to carry all her bags, he almost enjoyed himself, and managed to introduce her to the delights of Starbucks.
3. When Teal'c requested his companionship during a meditation session, he almost backed out. Sitting in silence for hours at a time wasn't something he was keen on trying. After twenty minutes, he fell asleep in the corner of the room and had the best sleep he'd managed in weeks. They began "meditating" together once a week.
4. Daniel managed to talk him into doing dozens of things that he wouldn't usually do. It was possible, however, that the "performance" that they gave to the inhabitants of P4X-786 was one of the strangest things he'd ever been convinced to do. And possibly the most erotic.
1. The only thing he wouldn't do, either for his team or to his team, was give up. No matter how bad the situation got, or how hopeless it all seemed, he kept the faith.

Four things that Cam would do for his team, and one that he wouldn't (Sam/Carolyn)
1. Lie
Cam had read enough mission reports by the time he joined SG-1 to realize that lying was sometimes a necessary component of the job. He expected it going in. Little white lies about liking the local specialty. Medium lies about where they were really from. Giant whoopers about Earth's military capabilities. And, of course, all sorts of lies to help his team.
However, nothing in the mission reports had led him to anticipate that he'd be spending an evening on Earth with Sam Carter's family, pretending to be her boyfriend.
"I really appreciate this," Sam said, squeezing his arm. "I'd blow off the comments, but last time I showed up alone, Annie told me that if I was alone again next year, she and Jess were going to camp out on my doorway until they found someone for me. I just don't want to have to explain to them why I'm away so many nights."
Or, Cam suspected, why Carolyn Lam so often spent the night when Sam was home. Not that Cam was supposed to know about that either.
"Sure," he said easily, resting a hand on hers. "What else are friends for?"
2. Cheat
Cam's always prided himself on a certain level of integrity, and he tries to live as honestly as he can. However, he's also pragmatic, and he recognizes that there's some truth to the old adage about love and war. If it's a choice between cheating and losing something big--the galaxy, the planet, a teammate--Cam will cheat with a smile on his lips. Or at least he'll summon a smile if the situation calls for it. Which, as it happens, Vala's plan does, at least long enough to win their way into the complex card game she tracked down when they learned just how much money (local currency only, please!) they needed to pay the fines that Teal'c--Teal'c!--had racked up on this particular mission.
"It's quite simple," Vala assured him as she led him down a particularly seedy street. "I'll handle all the betting; you just have to hold your cards right." She flashed him a bright smile. "We'll have Muscles out in no time!"
3. Steal
Stealing, like lying, was sometimes part of the job. Cam wasn't especially proud of it, but he'd do it. Especially when Jackson was shivering with fever and the whole team was a two-day hike from the gate with almost no supplies left. Cam didn't hesitate while grabbing a pile of blankets from the house on the edge of the villages.
He did make sure they had extras, though.
4. Die
Death--like frequent moves and mediocre food--was a part of the job. Cam had known that when he signed up, and various events over the course of his career had reinforced it. He'd rather not die, of course, but if he's going to go by any means other than old age, he really can't think of a better way than saving the lives of the people who had so often risked their own lives to save the world. He'd willingly die for each and every one of his teammates, and not even think twice about it. But he's still hoping he won't have to.
And one thing he wouldn't
1. Play the middle man
Cam knew coming in that SG-1 would already have its own rhythms and ways of doing things, and that he'd have to find a way to fit in, so the first time that Sam and Jackson both appealed to him to take their side on a completely non-work-related issue, Cam had felt a warm flush of acceptance.
Three weeks later and after many, many requests to choose sides, efforts at mediation, and refusals to participate in making Daniel jealous, Cam had realized that one thing he did not need was to be involved in the tangle of SG-1 relationships. In the field, he was happy to make decisions, but when it came to all things personal, Cam became devoutly non-committal. After all, he figured, they'd gotten along fine before he came along. They could learn to do it again.

Lie, Cheat & Steal
Everyone may think he's a boy scout, but that has worked in his favor more often than not. And lying isn't something he's necessarily proud of doing, and it's not something he'll talk about, but it is something he does for his team. When the occasion warrants it.
For example, when Landry was on a rampage when he discovered the cloaked Al'Kesh had been on Earth and hadn't been reported until it left, Cam lied and said Vala had absolutely reported to him that her father was visiting. Or when Walter was zeroing in on the fact that it was Teal'c who kept adjusting his chair height in the gate room, Cam accidently-on-purpose got caught making the chair shorter. He told the leader of P3X-142 that Sam was his wife, so that said leader wouldn't honor her with a position in his harem. He doesn't feel bad about that lie at all, despite the fact that Jackson said he now had to undo the perceptions Cam had made so that a female anthropologist could work there. Sam wasn't going to be part of a harem, so what is the big deal?
Cheat.
He was a bit disappointed when he discovered that maybe Sam wasn't a fan of his macaroons. That didn't mean he was a bad cook, did it? In fact, soon after that she became a huge fan of his lasagna. He didn't have the heart to tell her that his lasagna was Stouffer's. And that's when it all really started. It wasn't really his fault, it just kind of got out of control.
Vala liked anything he made with nuts, which he found appropriate. Even if all those dishes were from the pre-made section at Whole Foods. He knew where to find the best chicken soup and would bring it to the infirmary on a much-too-regular basis anytime anyone had to stay overnight. The only thing he actually cooked anymore was chili for when the team came over to watch football. Everything else, well... he cheated.
Steal.
Again with people thinking he's a boy scout, he often gets away with things he'd normally not dream of doing.
But he always takes extra cookies from the cafeteria. Jackson usually keeps reading when Cam shows up and eats them without really thinking about it.
Run errands.
Like most people, Cam spent his day off running errands. His errands usually revolved around getting items for members of his team. Jackson preferred Dunkin Donuts coffee to the stuff brewed in the cafeteria, so Cam would try to remember to pick him up a pound. He'd even stopped at that beauty shop and picked up some fancy face cream for Vala. At $45 a jar, he made her pay for refills. Then there was Sam, who always seemed to needed something from Home Depot or Pep Boys. Sometimes she gave him a list, which he refused to be relieved about because sometimes he didn't know what the heck she was talking about. Luckily, the folks at the auto parts store were pretty knowledgable.
Teal'c had a stack of DVD's that had to be returned to Blockbuster. Sam and Cam tried to reassure Teal'c that the mailroom couldn't actually see what movie was in the Netflix sleeve, but Teal'c didn't like the idea that they technically had the right to open mail that was delivered to base. So, Cam drove 10 miles away to one of the few remaining Blockbuster locations to get Teal'c his campy science fiction space operas and kung fu action films. Vala somehow got in on the deal and he'd began adding romantic comedies to the pile. The kid at the register looked at him funny these days.
Drive.
He wasn't being a dick, honest. He just didn't like anyone driving his car.

Warnings for implied non-con and impending major character death
Four things Cam would do for his team
1. "I'm sorry, Mom. I know I said I'd be home for Christmas this year, but I can't...no, it's not work. It's...someone needs me. It's kind of a personal emergency."
2. Cam bolted the door behind him and turned around, ignoring the baleful glare from the cabin's other occupant. "Look," he said, "if you don't want me to go to Landry, then this is your only other option. It's you, me, and this cabin until you are clean."
3. Cam licked his lips, mouth dry. "I'll do whatever you want," he said hoarsely, and tried not to think about what that meant. About what he would be asked to do. About the way his skin crawled beneath Lachis's gaze. "Just leave them alone."
4. "I don't really see that I have a choice, Sam. I kill the Minister, or they kill Jackson." Cam snapped a cartridge into the rifle and looked up at her, half-determined, half-pleading. "It's not like this guy is an angel. You saw those photos. You know what he did to those people. You can't tell me you think he's worth Jackson's life."
And one thing he wouldn't
Cam could feel the expression of shock take over his face despite his best efforts. She had looked tired when she first reappeared, yes, but he'd assumed it was because she'd been busy. They were all busy, even now. He hadn't suspected... "Vala. You can't just give up."
Vala smiled wearily. "It's not giving up, Cameron. At the very best--even with all of your wonderful medical technology--I've only got six months left, and for most of it I'll be completely crippled, unable to even feed myself. I'm not willing to live like that. I want to go out on my own terms."
She had always lived life on her own terms. He could understand that. But... "I'm sorry. I just can't."
