I can totally hear their voices in 1, haha. 3 is utterly understandable on McKay's part. 4, I can just imagine scientists pitching fits, stamping feet, and possibly hurling delicate scientific equipment... and then panicking that they damaged said delicate equipment. And a robot that sounds like Hal? Yeah, I don't care how cool it is, decommission time!
