Prompt 102.03
Five things people from the Atlantis Expedition told Dr. Kate Heightmeyer
Participation is open to all. If this is your own prompt, you're free to write to it (please do!). Post your list as a comment to this post, adding additional comments if you exceed the character limit. It's OK to post as Anonymous, then come out later or not as you choose. Responses will be screened until August 2 to see what people come up with independently. You can still respond to the prompt after the August 2 unveiling.
General info and a place to ask questions: the comm 'welcome' post.
Technical-support questions: tech help.
Suggestions: the suggestion box.
To supply a new prompt: the open call for prompts.
Subject-line spoiler warnings for new SGU eps. Thanks!
August 2 is the official due date. If you're posting a response after the unveiling announcement on August 2, please copy the link to your comment, click on the 'set 102' tag, and reply to the post 'Set 102 Responses Unscreened' with the link to your new comment-response. That helps people find and read and comment on responses that weren't there when they cruised through right after the reveal. Pimp the link in your journal, too, if you want to let your flist know you've posted something new.

Five things people from the Atlantis Expedition told Dr. Kate Heightmeyer
Kate does confidence building exercises with Lieutenant Ford that he doesn't realize the point of, and has to blink back tears when she hears that he was on a hive ship that blew up.
2. "If he doesn't give it a rest, I'm going to do something he'll regret."
Cadman's smiling when she says this, but she's got her knees drawn up to her chest and she looks tired. Kate's not completely surprised when Cadman loses her cool and yells at Carson about trying to get back with her, accusing her of having an affair with Major Lorne, and treating her like she's still his girlfriend.
3. "I don't know what I'm going to do here."
Elizabeth hangs up on her right after saying that, and although Kate keeps calling back, she never picks up. When they get back to Atlantis, Elizabeth pretends the conversation never happened. Kate's still trying to engage her when she's taken by the replicators.
4. "I thought I should set a good example."
It's possibly the most revealing thing Sheppard says to her in their whole acquintance, and even then it's revealing for what he doesn't say - for the mocking smile he gives her, like he knows he's not really fooling her. Just for that, she lets him pretend he is.
5. "I think we're all going to die out here."
From more people than any job she's ever had, so much so that she only needs to care about the part that comes after: And that terrifies me. But I think we're doing something good. And I think it's what we deserve for what we've done.
And I don't care.
