Five people Jack kisses at his retirement party (after he's had a few).

He watched her go, a little wistful for what could have been, had they both been different, and mostly glad that they weren't.

I second this sentiment. (expect in an apocalypse, I think it would be a bond of comfort with any teammate(s) she survived with)

Yes. Although I am not yet convinced that it would work, even after an apocalypse. The whole suppressed longing thing was fun for a while, but I can never really believe in an extended romance.
