Damn you. You made me all sniffly. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Quite the contrary.

I particularly loved the line about the rain on the uninhabited planet.

These are all so beautiful.

the brilliance of the away-from-the-city-lights night sky, and he only loved the promises, thinking foolishly that they’d be kept, and his hate vanished into the spring rain of an uninhabited planet, and all of #4.

Cheers for #5 and the chance for happiness. :-)

Somehow Daniel having his father's journals just feels right to me. And the Hammond one is probably my fave is thank you! :)

Oh, awesome, a foster dad! The rest of us neglected that part of Daniel's past.

I love that Daniel fell in love with a boy's brain, and that George's respect had such healing power.

I think Jack makes Daniel's blood boil in more ways than one. *g*

This is terrific. It even makes me like Jonas a little. *g*

All so nice, really unfolding little bits of Daniel. Well done!

Thanks! I almost did the grandfather, but popped in the foster father instead - I'm glad I did now, since no one else picked him.

As for Jack making Daniel's blood boil... I decided it was best to leave that to your imagination *g*

Thank you! I think there's always that bittersweetness of pain with love isn't there? Glad you enjoyed it. :)

Sad, but very beautifully done. I love all of them, but I think #5 is my favourite

Very nice!

He sat and talked comparative religion with an eleven-year-old boy and got him started learning Latin and Greek.
--That's a wonderful reason to love the man!

And of course the Jack paragraph is the best. *g*

Very lovely - all five of them. And they sound all absolutely true. And the last one made all teary-eyed. *sniff*

No wonder Daniel is very anxious that Jack will have the same fate.
Very beautiful.

And bit by bit, looking into the clear and encouraging eyes of General Hammond he slowly lost words from that bruised and battered vocabulary.

This is very nice and shows how important Hammond was for Daniel and his ability to forget and go on with a better life where he is loved and trusted.
