1. Daniel Jackson didn't die...famous. When the Stargate project became common knowledge, the military brass and the politicians got all the acclaim. Daniel was okay with that, because with fame came scrutiny, and with scrutiny came questions, and Daniel had to agree with Jack; saving the world a few times should excuse a man from having to explain his life.

2. Daniel Jackson didn't die...of old age, in bed, surrounded by children and grandchildren. Daniel was okay with that. He'd pretty much given up any hope of a long life after the first time he died.

3. Daniel Jackson didn't die...with a snake in his head. He'd lost people that way, and nearly lost even more. So no way, no how did he die with a snake in his head. And he was very okay with that.

4. Daniel Jackson didn't die...at the hands of a woman. This was entirely surprising to the people who knew his history with women (Jack was quite literally dumbfounded by the fact). Daniel himself could not have explained it, neither his history nor the fact that a woman didn't figure in his final demise, but he was okay with that, too.

5. Daniel Jackson didn't die.... Ever. Not in Jack's heart.

After all the ways we've seen Daniel die or nearly die, it was kind of nice to consider the ways he didn't die.

I'd love to be writing more J/D, but the bunnies apparently all had vasectomies and left me with nothing but an unused bag of bunny chow.

Aw...these were really nice insights into Daniel. #1 and #5 were my favorites. #1 because - seriously, and #5 because - sniff! Happy sniff.

Daniel dying snaked really would be the ultimate cosmic injustice, so I'm glad he doesn't.

I've always been a bit surprised that TPTB never snaked Daniel (altho they did just about everything but snake him), but I'm glad they didn't.
